Smart/RESTART
Smart/RESTART makes it as easy as possible to make both new and existing applications restartable. Without complicated restart logic or cumbersome operational procedures. Often without changes to source code. Smart/RESTART guarantees that updates to DB2, WebMQ, IMS and other RRS compliant resources stay in synch with your program's sequential file and cursor position, working storage and random VSAM updates. This enables your applications to restart from near the point of failure after abends, recompiles, and even system IPLs -- with all resources in a consistent state. Smart/RESTART fully supports SMS compressed and extended format datasets and interoperates with DFSMS Advanced Copy Services like XRC, PPRC and FlashCopy. Smart/RESTART enhances your disaster recovery capability to provide a total batch recovery solution.

Smart/RRSAF
Smart/RRSAF lets you run DB2 batch programs with regular JCL, so they look and behave like standard OS jobs. This ensures accurate SMF job accounting and accurate jobstep completion codes to prevent SNAFUs in DB2 batch production. Smart/RRSAF transparently supports both RRSAF and CAF. Applications can utilize either DB2 attachment without need for user code to manage an explicit DB2 connection. Smart/RRSAF enables your applications to update DB2, MQ, IMS and/or any other RRS compliant resources within a single unit of recovery and implements a variable COMMIT frequency. Moreover, you can migrate from TSO Attach to Smart/RRSAF without source changes. (Note: Smart/RRSAF is the successor product to Smart/CAF.)

Smart/COMMIT
Smart/COMMIT is intended for batch applications originally developed to run in standalone mode without COMMIT logic. Smart/COMMIT lets you define the unit-of-work external to the program -- without the need to change source code or JCL or to recompile or relink the application. The logic which detects the completion of a unit-of-work is located within Smart/COMMIT rather than the application source code. Smart/COMMIT triggers a commit (whose scope includes all RRS compliant resources) when processing reaches a point of consistency you define -- so data integrity is preserved.

The Smart Jobstream Series
The Smart Jobstream Series is an integrated set of products designed to keep your entire workload of production batch jobstreams running smoothly. These products are designed to simplify application development, maintenance and trouble shooting while improving the reliability, performance, manageability and throughput of your background jobstreams. Smart Jobstream components also reduce resource contention and prevent costly SNAFUs in batch.

Smart/QMF Batch Facility
Smart/QMF Batch Facility: The cure for the batch QMF blues
QMF batch failures often go undetected. Since the jobstep appears to end normally, multi-step jobstreams don't work correctly, nor do production control systems such as OPC/ESA and CA-7. Meanwhile, no one realizes that critical QMF production jobs haven't run. The Smart/QMF Batch Facility (Smart/QBF) reflects SQL and QMF errors at the jobstep level -- so both people and software will know when a failure occurs. This ensures proper execution of downstream jobsteps and allows production control software to work correctly. Later investigation can tell at a glance what went wrong because Smart/QBF writes its diagnostics directly to the JES listing or a message file you define. Existing QMF queries and procedures run without change because Smart/QBF operates transparently within QMF. Moreover, Smart/QBF makes it easier to develop and maintain QMF batch applications. For example, you can pass parameters to QMF procedures without ISPF file tailoring and specify error handling without a separate REXX exec or TSO CLIST. Instead, you can code everything instream with the JCL.
